Northwest Salmon & Wine Tasting
Palace Ballroom
Thursday, June 30th
6 – 9 pm
If there is anything quintessentially 'Pacific Northwest', it’s salmon. We are fortunate to be home to several wild runs of Pacific salmon. The diversity available to us is important to preserve not only for the individual species, but also for their contributions to the food chain. It’s all about sustainability! We are happy to support non-profit group Long Live the Kings, in their quest to restore wild salmon to the waters of our own backyards, the Pacific Northwest.
Ever wondered why you should pay more for a Wild King Salmon vs. a Sockeye? During the event, Barbara Cairns, Executive Director of Long Live the Kings, will host a program examining the individual life histories of each salmon species and their profound impact on our region’s culture; the status of salmon recovery today; and the remarkable ways in which salmon connect our communities.
Want to learn how you can make a difference? PCC Natural Markets Seafood Buyer Paul Schmidt will speak about the responsibilities of retailers in the recovery of wild salmon runs and highlight the choices that consumers can make to positively contribute to these efforts.
Join us for a tasting dinner, led by Eric Tanaka, our Executive Chef and James Beard Award Winner. Eric will prepare four different salmon species — Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, and Chum — highlighting each salmon's unique and complex flavors.
Chinook Winery, owned by our good friends Kay and Clay, both enthusiastic supporters of Long Live the Kings, will be wine pairing the dinner with their new spring releases.
"Silver" event tickets are available for $150 per person and include dinner, wine, tax and gratuity. All-inclusive "King" tickets are $200 per person, and include a limited-edition Long Live the Kings art poster and VIP event seating. Seating is limited and reservations are required. To purchase tickets, please call 1-800-838-3006 or visit www.brownpapertickets.com.
