Get ready! Tom Douglas’ Second Annual Dumpling Fest is coming back this March!
It’s back! After a fun and fulfilling first dumpling fest last year, our taste buds are craving another round of global deliciousness! Nearly every culture on the planet has inexplicably agreed that taking small pieces of dough and stuffing them with ingredients is a good idea. Yet from this very simple definition springs a myriad of culinary traditions that are as staggering in their diversity as the chefs that prepare them. American chicken n’ dumplings, Korean mandoo, Polish pierogi, Tibetan tingmo— each is a variation on the same theme, yet incredibly distinct.
One rarely gets to compare these traditions side by side. To pit your passion for pelmeni against your craving for cappelletti. To stage a soup dumpling showdown between xiaolongbao and shengjianbao. To dissuade doubters of empanadas, keftedes, and croquettes in a delightful dumpling definition deliberation! Well, you’re in luck. This March, Tom Douglas’ Palace Ballroom will be hosting the second annual Dumpling Fest, complete with bites, brews (of all kinds) and bumpin’ music! Featuring some of Seattle’s finest culinary institutions and dumpling devotees, this all-ages event will unite chefs and diners to share and celebrate the grand dumpling traditions of the world. And, like the dumplings, we can guarantee everyone will walk away a little stuffed.
