Tom's Favorite Cookbooks: Demo & Dinner Series
Tom Demos ~ Toro Bravo by John Gorham & Liz Crain with Soundtrack by Placido Domingo.
If you know Tom, you know that he is an avid cookbook aficionado. He likes to buy them, read them, cook from them, and considers cookbooks an important part of his culinary education. That’s why we present Tom’s Favorite Cookbooks Demo and Dinner Series at Hot Stove Society. For added fun and mood enhancement, each demo and dinner in this current series will be paired with a soundtrack from one of Tom’s favorite musical artists.
John Gorsham is the chef/ owner of the “perpetually slammed” Spanish-inspired Portland restaurant, Toro Bravo, and the co-author of the cookbook of the same name. If you’ve been to Toro Bravo, you’re familiar with the loud, clattery, high energy atmosphere and the robustly delicious communal style food. Rule number one at Toro Bravo is ‘Always Share.’ When Gorsham was dreaming up Toro Bravo, he was influenced by the Barcelona restaurant, Cal Pep, and the way Spanish restaurants are a constant, relentless party. But don’t expect Toro Bravo to serve one hundred percent traditional or authentic Spanish cuisine, whatever that may be. As Gorsham says: “Spanish cuisine is influenced by centuries of trade and travel. It isn’t any one thing. It’s all over the place, and anything but straightforward.”
Tom will cook his way through this sensational cookbook, accompanied by the music of Placido Domingo, the world famous Spanish operatic tenor, while you relax and enjoy an amazing dinner. Cocktail and wines are included in the price of the dinner.
