Copper River Salmon is Here!

May 16, 2023

How would you like to enjoy a delicious piece of world-famous Copper River Salmon and help the Ballard Food Bank at the same time? We are making it happen starting May 16th and 17th until we’re sold out - at most of our restaurants!

We have teamed up with Trident Seafoods and Alaska Airlines to bring you first-of-the-season Copper River King and Sockeye salmon direct from chilly Alaskan waters. The swift, icy cold Copper River is nearly 300 miles long and fed by the Fickett, Saddlebag, and Sherman glaciers. Forty years ago, the first “fresh” shipments of just harvested, brilliant red fish made their way to the markets and restaurants of Seattle, and have become a breathless phenomenon each and every May.

This year, we have once again partnered with Trident Seafoods to celebrate the fish by grilling the new arrivals for the benefit of our local food banks. I will “catch” the first Copper River King of the seasons - thrown by the captain of the Alaska Airlines salmon freighter on the tarmac of SeaTac airport. From there, Trident will race the cherished fish to The Palace Kitchen where it is destined for the day's "fresh sheet". We will sell each portion of Copper River King for $50. A full 100% of the proceeds will be headed to the Ballard Food Bank. We will only have 50 portions so don’t dilly-dally!

For the rest of the week, we’ll feature Trident Seafoods donated Copper River Sockeye at Lola, The Carlile Room, Seatown, and Etta’s for $35 a plate with $30 of that going to the Ballard Food Bank - many thanks to Trident! Each restaurant will celebrate this unique fish by grilling it simply with a light rub of fennel and garlic, giving it a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and finally, a flourish of fresh lemon.

Please join us, so we can grill good, eat good, and do good all at the same time! Happy 50th anniversary Trident Seafoods!

Cheers,
Tom
